- For the third year in a row, The Princeton Review listed
the University of Arkansas in its The Nation's Best 345
Colleges, placing the U of A in the top 10% of all such
institutions.
- The University's inclusion in "The Fiske Guide to Colleges,"
along with 294 other top public and private colleges and universities,
places the U of A in the top 8% of the 4,048 institutions of higher
learning in America.
- University enrollment: 16,035
- Fulbright College enrollment: approximately 6,328 (includes
graduate students)
- Fulbright College has 19 departments, 14 interdisciplinary programs,
and several special programs. Students can earn majors,
minors, and concentrations in several fields of study.
- UA students come from 50 states and 102 foreign countries.
- Fulbright College offers a bounty of study abroad opportunities.
In the summer, faculty lead programs in Canada, Costa Rica, China,
England, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, Ireland, and Italy.
- The College offers the prestigious $50,000 Sturgis Fellowship,
as well as a number of other scholarships
and fellowships.
- Through exchange programs, students can also study at universities
in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
- The U of A awards over $50 million each year in scholarships
and financial assistance.
- Over 60% of UA students are awarded financial aid totaling nearly
$70 million.
- The average amount of each freshman scholarship/grant package:
$5,687
- Students from the neighboring states of Texas, Mississippi,
Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Kansas with a 3.0 GPA and 24
ACT can enroll at in-state costs.
- The average ACT of students in the Fulbright College Four-Year
Scholars Program is 31.4.
- In 2000-2001, Fulbright College students won an unprecedented
number of prestigious national scholarships: a Rhodes Scholarship,
three Barry Goldwater Scholarships, a Marshall Scholarship, and
two National Science Foundation Fellowships. Only Brown and Princeton
could match that record.
- In 2001-2002, Fulbright College students continued to take the
top national awards: They won two Barry Goldwater Scholarships,
the James Madison, Fulbright, and Marshall Scholarships, an NSF
Graduate Fellowship, and 13 Research Experience for Undergraduates
grants from the National Science Foundation. In addition, five
were finalists for the Rhodes, another for the Truman Scholarship,
and one student was named to the USA TODAY All-College Academic
First Team, with another receiving an Honorable Mention. In short,
our students are simply among the best in the nation.
- Nearly 70% of undergraduate classes have 25 or fewer students,
while 93% have 50 or fewer students. Student to faculty ratio:
16:1
- Fayetteville is the only Arkansas city to be listed in The
Most Beautiful Villages and Towns of the South, published
in 2000 and featuring only 23 locales.
- A study by Forbes magazine placed northwest Arkansas
55th in a list of the 200 Best Places in America for economic

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Entering students should have completed these high school courses:
English, 4 units
Natural sciences, 3 units
Social Studies, 3 units
Mathematics, 3 units
Electives, 3 units (chosen from above subjects or foreign
language, computer science, or oral communication)
- Additional Fulbright College recommendation: 2 units (years)
of a single modern foreign or classical language. If you have
not taken these units pior to enrollment, you will need to do
so before graduating from the College.
- Prepare to be challenged at the U of A. Strive for a B average
in high school and at least a 20 on the ACT or 960 on the SAT.
- The University will look at your high school GPA, class rank,
standardized test scores, personal essay, extracurricular activities,
and your goals for the future.
