OK, I'm trying again at this... Found an interesting site today, Welcome
To The Drive-In Theater!, that has a list of all the operating drive-in
theaters in America. Only three
left in Arkansas, the 112 Drive-In in Fayetteville being one of them. It
has the Mena Drive-in listed as a dead drive-in. Sad... I grew up at that drive-in.
Really.

So, now it's been a REALLY
long time since I've added to this web journal. A whole lot has happened in
the time that's passed. I had a baby, Benjamin
Panther Sanders Weatherford. He is now 15 months old and walking and doing
a little talking. He's becoming a little geek, I fear; he just wants to play
on the computer all the time. We're working on having him grow up thinking that
Life Is A Carnival. We've taken him to Springfest (Fayetteville, AR), the Vandervoort
Fourth of July Picnic, the Tontitown Grape Festival, the Washington County Fair,
the Carson and Barnes Circus (where we rode an elephant!), and the Apple Festival
in Lincoln. We go to the Farmers' Market on the Square and yesterday, we went
to the Fabulous Fall Function. I've started scrapbooking with Mary. I need a
place to keep my memories. We might be moving to Greenland. We are in the middle
of buying a house there, in that limbo period where you have to wait for an
appraisal to find out if the whole deal might fall through... I've written a
couple of poems; they're linked from my Words page.

Well, it's been a while...
We did make it down Route 66... in the summer of 2000. I still don't have
the pictures up. But when I do, they will be over on my comp.uark.edu
account; we just got 100mb of space over there. Right now, I have a twisted
vertebra and protruding disk in my spine. The agony... Luckily, I have my
flowerbeds already planted; I will have some photos up of them soon (yeah,
right)... I went to Memphis in May; that was a blast! I am now scanning those
photos. I am doing more filming now though, since I got the camcorder for
Christmas 2000. So, I went to my FIRST concert. I got to see one of my all-time
favorites, Bob Dylan. He rocked! I also saw War and some others.
August 8, 2000, Tuesday,

We've changed our
vacation plans. I think we will skip Montana for now. Neither
of us is up to a long road trip. So, we are first planning a road
trip down Route 66. Here are the plans
so far!
Here's a picture of
my totaled Dodge Shadow
July 31, 2000, Monday,
8:47p.m.
Here is this year's
front flowerbed! The stuff in the middle there is wormwood.
There are petunias all
in
the front and vinca vine all along the bottom. There is a mixture
of things on top, mums, marigolds, etc. I am making a page to show
the progress of the front flowerbed...
I got sick and then
went to Indiana and got sicker and I couldn't hear at all out of my right
ear and then I got back and a guy hit my little Shadow with a Jeep and
totalled it and I got a Mitsubishi Mirage today. I hate insurance
companies...
Indiana... there
is a lot of corn in Indiana... Sue and Jaret and Dare and I went
to Indiana to see Jeremy. It was a long drive, but we had a great
time. It was so good to see Jeremy and to spend some time with Sue
and the kids.
I will
get more pictures scanned soon and link up lots of the stuff here...
March 25, 2000, Saturday,

Springtime has come
to the Ozarks! The weather is beautiful; rain at night, warm and
sunny all day. Mornings are humid as the rain steams out of the ground.
I have
been exhausting myself in the flowerbeds. I have pulled out every
rock and filled in the holes and replaced them, making changes as necessary.
I am redoing the front bank. To the right, see the picture of this flowerbed
a few years ago; it was planted mostly with petunias and rose moss. I am
rearranging all the rocks and planting the bottom with Vinca vine that
I'm transplanting from the backyard where it's taking over; Terry hates
it, but it blooms pretty purple flowers in the spring. And it comes back
every year so I won't have so much work to do in the future!
The Dentist!
I went to the dentist on Monday the 20th. I had waited, and it had
turned into a root canal. It wasn't too bad. I have a wonderful
dentist named Rodney Roark (Fayetteville, Arkansas). He is the best
dentist in the world. He is very nice and can give a shot that doesn't
hurt!
I
haven't been down to the CAT station in a while; Lucinda has been sick.
RandyO
is moving back from Wisconsin!
Mena!
Terry and I went to Mena (Arkansas) last weekend. Sue and Jaret had
come in from their nomadic travels. It was a good visit with them and Mom
and Gary. I installed Eudora for Gary and it worked great! Much better
than Netscape mail. I finally got Jaret his birthday present (his birthday
was January 20). I took him to Wal-Mart, and he really wanted a Furby
so I got him a Baby Furby. Damn, those things don't shut up!
So, this was Spring
Break week. I was off work Friday, three day weekend... half over...
March 3, 2000, Friday,
12:30a.m.
I took the last CAT
class last Friday! Finally, a good class up there! It was the
Studio class and we learned all about the cameras and the lights and the
soundboard and the graphics. Then we did a show that will be on open
channel next Monday. I got to be the director! I loved it!
I can't wait to watch the show. Lucinda and I are going to go tackle
the editing machine again Monday. Tuesday, we are going to have the
camera and hope to get down to Dickson Street to film some Mardi Gras goings-on...
Writers
Group met here last night. It was fun! We had Cynthia,
Mary, Ken, Lucinda, Zippy,
and me. I read some of my and Zippy's story.
I am now attempting
to learn Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and Visual Age. Wish me luck...
February 19, 2000,
Saturday, 5:13p.m.
The COYOTES
met last Wednesday. I had the camera from CAT,
and we filmed some readings. We haven't been able to edit it, yet,
with all the insanity that goes on at the CAT station.
I only made an 85%
on my Object
Oriented test last Tuesday...
February 13, 2000,
Sunday, 12:15a.m.
Anniversary:
February 7 was my and Terry's 13th anniversary. He had his class
that night so I only saw him for a few minutes that day.
Education:
I got my first assignment back in my Object
Oriented Seminar class (UofA).
I made 16 out of 20. My first test is next Tuesday.
CAT:
OK, the people up there are INSANE. really. We (Lucinda and
I) have now taken the field class and got the camera for a short time,
and we have taken the editing class. We still have to take the studio
class. ANOTHER scheduling mix-up there has set us back a couple of
weeks. Mostly, we've been having to learn everything on our own...
DK's URL of the
Day: Zing
has unlimited photo storage, free photo albums, and more...
Kitty Cat loves Pepsi!
January 21, 2000,
Friday, 11:00p.m.
Yeah, happy new year...
I've been sick with this flu for about a month now... And I've been
very bad about keeping up this journal. I still can't hear out of
my right ear. I'm still congested, mostly in my lungs. I missed
2 1/2 days of work before Christmas. Christmas was cool; we went
to Mena to
see Mom
and Gary.
Sue
and Jim and
Jaret
came in to visit for one day, then they were on to see Jeremy
in Michigan and they are back in Memphis now.
My New Thing:
Saltwater fish! I don't have any yet, but I'm planning to soon!
Actually,
they are for Terry's
birthday. We have this 40 gallon tank just sitting around collecting
dust, so I thought, "I'll clean it up and throw some fish in it for Terry's
birthday." So, Terry's birthday is tomorrow, and I'm still researching
everything. But he knows; I realized there was no way I was going
to haul that 100 pound tank out of the bedroom, clean it, let the water
sit, set up everything, and acclimate the fish and somehow manage to surprise
him... He's letting me pick out the fish! So, Mary
and I visited the local fish shops and were pretty disappointed.
Not a big selection and high prices. Worlds Under Water on College
Ave. is pretty good. That's where I saw the reef tanks! And
I wanted anemones and that pretty purple color and seahorses! Yeah,
seahorses!
I've
wanted seahorses all my life, but I hear they are hard to keep...
I'm also looking into Tangs, Damsels, Blennies, and Cleaner Wrasse.
I (and Terry) want nice fish. We don't want to watch mutilations
every day. Hell, I can't even watch the animal shows on Discovery
Channel anymore... And I don't want anything that eats seahorses!
So, being disappointed at the fish stores, I got online and was very happy
to find places that will deliver fish and other stuff to me. I think
I might go with Flying Fish Express.
They have good prices and a one week guarantee (which doesn't sound like
much, but is apparently pretty good for saltwater fish).
Here are some pictures
I found of some cool-looking reef
tanks.
My Other New Thing:
CAT!
Community
Access Television! Fayetteville Open Channel... Lucinda
and Don and I are going down there on Tuesday to start the classes they
offer. They are $105 which includes the first year's producer license.
Then we can use all their equipment and studio and our writer's
group is going to make our own show!
The Weather: It
was extremely warm last week, up around 80 F, probably. I did some
work in the flowerbeds. It's really cold now. It's been below
freezing most nights this week.
Packages:
I received another box in the mail, stuff I ordered online using coupons
listed at FlamingoWorld and
my Webcertificate. This
one was from Pets.com. I got Kitty
Cat a case of her favorite canned catfood and a furry duck that vibrates
and a mouse inside a wheel thing and some furry catnip balls. All
for $6. Kitty
Cat was delighted that she got a box in the mail and was so excited
as I opened the packages for her. She played with all the new toys
tonight. They also sent the Pets.com magazine. It has Kevin
Bacon on the cover with his dog. It also has one of those little
heavy-paper things stapled to the outside, wanting you to reorder. It doesn't
cover the whole front, just the bottom corner. When you flip up the
little paper thing, there you see sitting at Kevin Bacon's feet, Kevin
Bacon's ugly brother with his dog. I got a lot of free stuff from
Healthshop.com
and Vitamins.com and Drugstore.com,
too, candles, hair conditioner, soap, flower oils, and other stuff.

I have been SO sick!
I have some major flu thing that has knocked me on my ass. Thursday
was the worst... So, I've been doing some online Christmas shopping.
Check out Webcertificate.com
and Flamingoworld.com for great
deals; you can get a lot of stuff completely free! I also got some
new software for myself. msbcd.com
is a good place to get older versions of software for cheap and rebates.
December 4, 1999,
Saturday, 10:00p.m.
First day of Christmas
shopping for me! Terry even went with me. It poured rain.
We ate at Jerry's Cafe first (great food, corner Hwy 71/College
& Dickson in Fayetteville). Terry was mad at me because
my car was on empty and the ashtray was overflowing. I had told him
we should take his truck; I didn't want to hear about it. So, he
put gas in the car, and we're at Jerry's, and I had left my cigarettes
in the car, and when I went back out to get them, Terry made a downpour
come just while I was outside and soak me. Then he laughed and felt
better. I emptied the ashtray when we got home... Rain, rain,
rain... Kitty Cat is all muddy. I worked on my Cats page today,
put on some more pictures; I hope to have that up soon. I also made
a graphic for a link to Ken's
page from my Links and Friends/Web Index
page.
December 3, 1999,
Friday
I finally got Ken's
photos up on the writer's
group page; it took forever. I think Tripod was having some FTP
problems. And then I accidentally deleted the whole Springfest
"99 page (that's where the new pics are). So... It's Friday!
I played SimLife for awhile today; hadn't played in a while. I cannot
get my animals to live; the plants do OK. Terry
and I are thinking of going to Eureka
Springs tomorrow to go Christmas shopping if the weather is nice.
I've written some new pages at work lately including one on Server
Side Includes and one on Listserv
with a link to a nice page I did on LISTSERV
E-mail-based commands.
December 2, 1999,
Thursday, 10:30p.m.
I will be putting
new photos up on our writer's
group's page, some that ken
did. I will be teaching Intro to the Internet in the morning.
I've been trying to keep up with the riots in Seattle, trying to get the
real news, what's really going on, WHY they are rioting. Eat
the State has a good
article about it. We're thinking of having a New Year's Eve party
this year... good idea?
November 28, 1999,
Sunday, 12:30a.m.
Back home after Thanksgiving
with the folks. I made a big dinner in Mom's kitchen which is not
easy. Since she doesn't (and has never) cooked, she doesn't have
a lot of dishes or ingredients. We had the big dinner on Friday so
I could have my 4 year old great-nephew over. He and I also journeyed
to the back pond where we witnessed a relative of the Loch Ness Monster.
The ponds are very low. Arkansas is very dry; we need rain.
Web:I
have scanned lots more pictures which I haven't resized or uploaded yet.
Many are of my cats for my cats web page to come soon. I have also
added several links to my larnin'
page and a link to the official
Jimi Hendrix page from my list of favorite
musicians.
November 21, 1999,
Sunday
I've decided to keep
the journal in reverse order so the newest entries are first. I scanned
lots of pictures today. I still have to resize and upload them.
I guess I will do a page on Arkansas for my travel section since I've lived
here my whole life. I scanned pictures of Rich Mountain and the zoo
on top.
November 20, 1999,
Saturday
So, I've decided to keep a Web journal.
Mary says she's gonna, so I guess I can, too!
HTML: I
worked on my Web
Index/Links pages a lot tonight, adding new links and organizing the
Other
Larnin' page. I have been working on a new page called Cats I've
Loved. I will soon have a grand, new Cats section with pictures and
links to other cats pages! I am also working on my In Memory Of page.
I have begun a few new pages on my recent East Coast vacation to be included
in the Travel/Roadtrippin'
section.
Writing: Zippy
and I are collaborating on a new story called Hookers and Dead Bodies.
We are close to being done, I think. Then we can start on the one
about the plagues. I have been working some on a story that I read
at writer's group
a while back when I was stuck. Don had a good suggestion, and I'm
trying to finish it.
Arkansas: It
was chilly today and is cold tonight (has been unusually warm).
Personal: Mary,
Annie, and I hit the thrift stores and used bookstore this morning.
In the afternoon, I called Mom; Mary came over to visit; Terry worked
all day.
