Requesting a PLUS Loan
To request a PLUS Loan, carefully complete the forms listed below. Please print, complete and review it for accuracy before mailing it to the lender. The PLUS Master Promissory Note needs to be completed only once for each student.
Loan proceeds are usually disbursed in two equal amounts for the school year. Funds received electronically from the lender will be applied directly to your student’s University account. Any excess funds will be sent to you, the parent, by University check. Please note that all lenders on our lender comparison list send funds electronically. If funds are received by check it will be mailed to you, and you will be asked to return a personal check to the University for payment of any amount outstanding. Lender checks will be mailed to the address you enter in Question 5 on the Federal PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note.
Points to remember:
- Refer to the Comparison List and choose a lender to complete the lender information. (If you would like to use a lender not listed, contact a financial aid counselor for assistance.)
- Your loan will equal the amount requested if eligibility permits.
- Please sign the Federal PLUS Loan Application and Master Promissory Note as completed in Question 1.
- Contact lender for correct mailing address if they are not on the lender comparison list.
- Watch for an award notice from the Financial Aid Office confirming your PLUS loan and the amount approved.
- Funds will be disbursed only if your student is enrolled in at least six credits for the semester.

Steps to apply for a New PLUS Loan:
- Complete the Federal PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note and mail to lender.
- Complete the Federal PLUS Loan Application and return it to the University of Arkansas, Office of Financial Aid.
