General Information

The Office of the Registrar wants to assist veterans and their dependents in utilizing their education benefits.

If you have questions about applying for benefits, come to the Registrar's Office at 146 Silas H. Hunt Hall, Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and ask to speak to the Veterans Certifying Officer.

Responsibilities of Veteran Students

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Certifying Official at the University of Arkansas closely monitor each veteran student's enrollment status and academic program. Attendance is a MUST for veteran students.

  • Notify the Veterans Certifying Official if you change your degree program or your address.
  • Register only for courses which are required for completion of your selected degree.
  • Notify us immediately if you stop attending class(es) for any reason.
  • Studetns who apply for Veteran's benefits are responsible for payment of fees pending receipt of benefits.

How do I get started?
You must first be accepted to attend the University of Arkansas. Click here for Admissions information.

Once you are admitted, you must come by the Registrar's Office at 146 Silas H. Hunt Hall, Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to fill out the necessary VA form to request education benefits.

What is Priority Registration and what are the advantages to me as a student receiving VA education benefits?
Priority Registration is the opportunity to register for the next term based upon student groups by current class standing. The Schedule of Classes, registration information, definitions and checklist are available here.

  • Participating in priority registration may save you up to 60 days in processing time with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Participating may also assist in preventing an interruption in receiving your benefits.
  • Selection of courses and times are more widely available during priority registration.

What is the certification to the Veteran's Administration based upon?
The veteran/dependent's certification is based upon the number of required credit hours for which the student is enrolled.

When may I add or drop a class?
You may add or drop a class ONLY during specified drop/add periods. See the Semester Calendar for this semester's deadlines. Remember that the class added must be required for completion of your selected degree.

How do I receive my check at my new address?
Simply complete the "VA Form 572 Change of Address" at the Registrar's Office or call 1-888-442-4551.

Am I eligible for direct deposit?
This depends on the chapter under which you collect benefits. Chapters 30 and 1606 are eligible. Click here for details on signing up for direct deposit.

How do I know how many months of entitlement I have left?
The Registrar's Office does not have this information. You must contact the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office (1-888-442-4551).

What if I get orders to deploy after I have registered and/or started classes?
There are options available to you in the event you are called to active duty/deployment after having registered or once the term begins. Please contact Student Accounts at 575-5651 for more infomation about the documentation you will need to provide. A copy of your orders will be needed.
