Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Education degree may select the family and consumer sciences education program concentration as a field of specialization in vocational education. Requirements for initial licensure may be met by completion of the B.S.E. and the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) (See the Graduate School Catalog.). In addition to the general studies and the 18-hour Professional Pre-Education Core, the following courses are required for a concentration in family and consumer sciences education. Technical Requirements - 55-56 hours HESC 1013, 1023, 2053 Clothing and Textiles - 9 hours NOTE: The minimum number of hours required to receive a baccalaureate degree at the University of Arkansas is 124 semester hours. For professional education requirements for Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.), see the Graduate School Catalog or academic requirements. 9 Two courses in general chemistry may substitute for CHEM 1074 and 1071L. 10 Counts as general studies requirement.
