Learning experiences-using typewriter skill, knowledge, understanding-to solve typewriting problems pertaining to student's personal needs. (Non-degree credit for students in business administration.) OFSM1213 Shorthand I (FA, SP) Imparts thorough knowledge of principles. Emphasis is on developing initial skill in reading/writing from textbook and related material. New material dictation in form of related textbook material gradually incorporated with unfamiliar dictation until taking and transcribing new material on typewriter. (Non-degree credit for students in business administration.) Prerequisite: OFSM 1013. OFSM1323 Shorthand II (FA, SP) Continues OFSM 1213 with emphasis on broadening shorthand vocabulary used in business and professional offices. Emphasis on building speed in taking new matter dictation and producing quality transcripts on word processing equipment. Prerequisite: OFSM 1213. OFSM2023 Keyboarding II (FA, SP) Emphasizes applying acquired typewriting skills and knowledge to planning, organizing, typewriting variety of production problems with vocational speed and efficiency. Also includes orientation on word processing equipment. Prerequisite: OFSM 1013. OFSM2533 Administrative Office Procedures (SP) Develops understanding of office problems and analytical thought about solutions; emphasizes operational and managerial competencies needed by college-education secretary to function as professional executive secretary and administrative assistant. Prerequisite: OFSM 2023 and CISQ 2232. OFSM2703 Electronic Office Applications (FA) Provides hands-on applications of popular software packages including word processing, financial applications, file management, graphics, networking, and telecommunications. Prerequisite: CISQ 2232. The following courses are not open to business students until they have completed all Pre-business requirements.
