GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Evergreen, much branched, compact, dense, rounded shrub. Slow growth rate to
3 feet depending cultivar.
ADAPTABILITY:
Well-drained soil, keep roots cool with mulch. Full sun or light shade,
protect from winter wind.
FUNCTIONS:
Hedge plant, foundation, edging. Deer-resistant.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Pruning not necessary unless formal hedge desired. Minor insect and
mite problems. Clippings are toxic to animals. Plants are sensitive to
salt. Root rot in poorly drained soils.

Zones 4-9, very cultivar dependent.
