GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
The species is a large evergreen shrub grown for its attractive fruit. The variety
on campus is used as an evergreen ground cover.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well-drained soil, acidic to near neutral pH. Half shade to
full sun.
FUNCTIONS:
Hedge or screen, evergreen ground cover.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Spider mites, lace bugs, scale. May require spraying. Fireblight is
not a problem with this species.

Western China Zones
USEFUL RANGE (USDA Zones):
6-9 (snowcover determines survival in northern areas).
