Flowers: Small white flowers in the axils of the leaves in spring. Dioecious.

Foliage: Spiny, glossy, relatively small, dark green leaves.

Fruit: Bright red berries on female plants, ripening in fall, persisting through winter.

 

Location: Several locations on the University of Arkansas campus. Two plants flank the north door of the Physics building.
