GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Symmetrical and dense when young, becomes open, scraggly and loose
with age.
ADAPTABILITY:
Cool, moist. acidic soil: protect from winter wind and sun.
FUNCTIONS:
Border, specimen, screen, naturalizing, roadside.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Remove flowers after they fade (prevent seed production). Foliage is
toxic. Occasional leaf spot.
NATIVE RANGE:
Eastern North America, Pennsylvania and Connecticut state flower.
