GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Low growing prostrate groundcover.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well-drained soils, high in organic material. Does best in partial shade,
especially in winter.
FUNCTIONS:
Groundcover.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Stem die-back especially during prolonged wet periods. Slow to establish, new
plantings may need weed control. May need to thin established plantings to increase
air circulation. Considered to be invasive in the northeastern United States.

SUBSPECIES, VARIETIES, CULTIVARS:
'Alba'- white flowers; 'Bowles Variety'-flowers larger than species, but plant
is less vigorous. 'Illumination'-central area of leaf is bright yellow, but
tends to revert.
