Flowers: Monoecious, male cones numerous, opening in fall to disperse pollen. Female cones on short branches at the top of the tree.
Foliage: Dark green, (bluish-green in cultivars), needle-like, solitary or in rosettes.
Fruit: Large vertical cones (4 inches) top of tree, mature in two years, purplish brown, disintegrate when mature.
Location: A specimen is planted in between the Business Administration Building and Kimpel Hall.
