GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Pyramidal with pendulous branchlets, stiff habit when young, becoming graceful
with age, 75' in 50 years.
ADAPTABILITY:
Transplant balled and burlapped, best in moderately moist, sandy, acid, well
drained soils. Prefers cold climates. Best in full sun or light shade in warmer
zones.
FUNCTIONS:
Screen, specimen, hedge; corner and foundation plantings using dwarf cultivars.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Prune in spring. Red spider mite in dry situations, may require spraying. Pruning
not necessary unless used as hedge. Plant in area with adequate space.
