GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Irregular pyramid in youth, becoming open, wide-spreading, flat topped, medium
rate to 60 feet, 30-40 feet wide.
ADAPTABILITY:
Will grow in any soil if well drained. Full sun, acidic soils, will grow in
poor, dry sites.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, screening (when young) massing, Christmas tree.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Twig blight due to Diplodia, especially in humid climates. Pruning to
maintain fullness if used as a screen.
