Japanese Yew

Flowers: Dioecious, copious pollen from the male plant in spring.

Foliage: Rich, dark green, flattened needles, clustered on lighter green twigs. New foliage is an attractive light green in spring.

Fruit: Fleshy, scarlet aril. The enclosed seed in toxic.

 

Location: Many yews at the northeast corner of Mullins Library.
