Carolina Allspice

Flowers: Reddish brown flowers in May, continuing into June. Occasionally reblooms in summer. Very fragrant, especially in the yellow-flowered clones. Flowers on old and new wood.

Foliage: Glossy, dark green, clean looking, yellow fall color.

Fruit: Large urn shaped receptacles, persist through winter. Usually not too many found on the plant.

 

Location: On the north side of the Plant Sciences building, in the elevated bed next to the sidewalk.
