GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
To 12 feet, strong horizontal character, rounded when mature
ADAPTABILITY:
Not drought tolerant. Full sun to half shade.
FUNCTIONS:
Border, specimen, screen.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Will need water during dry summers. May be attacked by borers, which would need
to be sprayed with insecticide. Prune carefully so not to destroy attractive
horizontal branching habit.

SUBSPECIES, VARIETIES, CULTIVARS:
Two forms are cultivated: f. tomentosum (Doublefile) and f. plicatum
(Snowball). 'Shasta' broad, compact, large flower and fruit clusters (f. tomentosum);
'Shosoni' compact form of 'Shasta.' 'Summer Snowflake' flowers throughout the
summer.
