GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Climbs by twining stems. Stout, rampantly growing vine, very fast growing.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well drained loam, pH adaptable, does better at a pH close to neutral.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, screen, can actually be trained into a small "tree."
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Requires strong support, difficult to establish, often a long delay before blooming
begins. Difficult to keep in consistent flowering. Flower buds killed frequently
at northern edge of range.
