GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Rounded symmetric crown, very dense, medium growth rate.
ADAPTABILITY:
Adaptable to soil, needs full sun. Tolerant of pollution.

PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Dense canopy and shallow roots make it difficult to grow turf underneath. Frost
cracking of trunks. Verticillium wilt and tar spot are two serious diseases.
The plant escape cultivation and is invasive in woodlands where it out-competes
native species. This is especially the case in the northeastern United States.
