GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
When young, pyramidal or elliptical, aging to irregular ovoid rounded crown.
Medium to fast grower.
ADAPTABILITY:
Prefers slightly acid, moist soils; tolerates poorly drained sites. Not city
tolerant, although frequently planted as such.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade or street tree.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Borers, leaf hoppers; weak-wooded when compared to A. saccharum
or A. platanoides.
