GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Upright and pyramidal form, suckering, medium growth when young, slowing as
the plant matures.
ADAPTABILITY:
Exists as an understory tree in nature, so is adaptable to shade, best fruiting
and fall color in sun. Prefers moist, well-drained soil high in organic material.
May require some shade in warmer zones.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, naturalizing.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Remove suckers as they develop if a thicket is not wanted. Plant multiple clones
for best fruit set.
