GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Low branching tree with broad rounded crown, medium growth rate.
ADAPTABILITY:
Well drained soils in full sun. Tolerates higher pH, found on limestone cliffs
in nature.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade tree, specimen
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Verticillium wilt. Prune only in summer; "bleeds" profusely if pruned in late
winter or early spring. Develops bad crotches that split in ice storms.
