Cornus kousa (Buerger ex Miq.) Hance.
 
Kousa Dogwood

Flowers: True flowers are greenish yellow, insignificant. They are surrounded by showy white or pink bracts in May.

Foliage: Medium to dark green in summer, dull reddish purple in fall.

Fruit: Dangling dull red, round fruits. Resemble a raspberry and ripen in late summer. Edible.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Horizontally layered branching. Bark exfoliates in patches.

 

Location: Near the southwest corner of the Graduate Education building.
