GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Small, low branched tree, horizontal lines, wider than high.
ADAPTABILITY:
Best in acid, well drained soil, full sun to partial shade.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen, patio tree, border, naturalizing.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Mulch to keep root zone cool. Not pollution tolerant. Plants under stress subject
to borer infestation. Water during dry spells. On the east coast of the U.S.
anthracnose is slowly destroying the dogwood.
NATIVE RANGE:
Eastern United States, west to Michigan and south to Texas, Arkansas native
