Washington Hawthorn

Flowers: Small, white, in clusters in May. Unpleasant smell.

Foliage: Dark green, lustrous, orange-red fall color in some years.

Fruit: Small, shiny, bright orange pomes, persisting into winter.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Horizontal branching; long, dangerous thorns.

 

Location: On the Old Main mall, near Carnall Hall.
