Ketucky Coffee Tree

Flowers: Greenish-white, in mid to late spring, inconspicuous amongst the foliage, but fragrant.

Foliage: Doubly pinnately compound leaves, dark green, emerge late; normally little fall color.

Fruit: Thick, reddish, brown pod, produced most abundantly every 2nd or 3rd year. Persists on the tree into winter.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Attractive, gray, textured bark; very coarse branching.

 

Location: On the Old Main mall, in between Ozark and Engineering.
