GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Pyramidal when young, oval rounded on mature trees, in wild usually very narrow
crown.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well drained soil, slightly acid. Full sun and plenty of room.
FUNCTIONS:
Shade tree, specimen, street tree.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Aphids in summer (can be serious), leaf spot. Stressed trees will lose their
leaves in late summer (especially if in dry soil).
