GROWTH HABIT, RATE:
Dense, broad pyramidal in shape, medium growth rate, final height and shape
is cultivar dependent.
ADAPTABILITY:
Moist, well drained soil, high in organic material. Full sun or partial shade.
Some protection in north.
FUNCTIONS:
Specimen or shade tree.
PROBLEMS AND MAINTENANCE:
Few disease or insect problems. The tree can be a litter problem and the dense
shade it casts may preclude the use of groundcover underneath.
