Maclura pomifera (Raf.) Schneid.
 
Osage Orange

Flowers: Dioecious, large, greenish, globose clusters on female, in late spring.

Foliage: Bright, glossy green; yellow fall color.

Fruit: Large compound fruit, green, falling in Sept. and Oct. (and you don't want to be underneath when it falls).

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: On older specimens, attractive, sinewy trunk, with orange-brown inner bark. Twigs have thorns.

 

Location: Southwest corner of Gregson Hall.
