Tupelo, Black Gum

Flowers: Small, greenish flowers in the axils of the leaves in late spring, dioecious. Insignificant.

Foliage: Medium green, glossy foliage. Stunning red fall color on some plants. Leaves normally change color early.

Fruit: Small, blue-black fruits in the axils of the leaves in fall.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Distinct horizontal branching.

Location: In front of the Altheimer lab, north of campus.
