Winged Elm

Flowers: Early spring, inconspicuous

Foliage: Dark green, smaller than American Elm, yellow fall color

Fruit: Samara, insignificant.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Twigs are winged, making for a good identification clue.

 

Location: In front of Pomfret Center (large specimen).
