American Elm

Flowers: Small, greenish-yellow or red in late winter or early spring before the leaves emerge.

Foliage: Deep green and lustrous, yellow in the fall but color is variable.

Fruit: Samara, insignificant.

Trunk, Branching, Twigs: Attractive vase-shaped branching; lending a "cathedral" effect to the landscape.

 

Location: On the east side of Carnall Hall, near Arkansas avenue. Large tree in front of Alpha Delta Pi sorority (east side), probably not long before this specimen is removed.
