OPTIONAL ART ASSIGNMENT:

ANCIENT GREEK MYTH REPRESENTATIONS

I got this idea from my friend Professor Nancy Felson (University of Georgia).

This is like a scavenger hunt, only you hunt for scenes from Greek Mythology on web sites.

If you choose to do this, you must use ancient Greek art for at least eight of your nine examples.

Find each of the following, and give:

a) The name of the work of art and its date,

b) A description of the scene, in terms of characters and/or identifying features (attributes).

That's it! Please type, and hand in by Wednesday, April 11. This assignment is optional. Its object is to let you have fun, and to prepare you for your second essay, the outline of which is due on Monday, April 16, and the essay itself is due on Wednesday, May 2 (or earlier).
