Greece 2001: Orientation Information

We will enjoy our Greek studies more by remembering he following:

I. Site/Museum Etiquette

• be on time
• pay attention
• tall people stand in back
• circulate to let everybody get close in small spaces
• don't photograph when speaker speaks
• treat all speakers with respect
• show appreciation to all speakers
• be prepared to wait at a site for another group to finish their visit
• never pick up and keep anything at a site, even a small sherd can be a ticket to Greek jail

II. Health/Safety

• take care of your bodies
• get plenty of sleep
• marble is slippery, even when dry
• don't walk on wet pavement if you can help it
• think about your feet: there are a lot of sharp things on the
• ground, and a lot of places to trip
• watch your step on archaeological sites; things collapse
• shoes: be sensible
• heat: watch dehydration; drink, suck on hard candies, wear head
• protection and sun screen
• food allergies, drug allergies, medication: learn the relevant

Greek words in case you need to deal with any urgent situation

III. Bus

• be on it, and on time
• keep it clean and dry
• try to follow our routes on a map
• be prepared to listen to talks en route
