How to Do Well in Philosophy Class
A few suggestions about how to do well in a philosophy class:
Read the
material
before we talk about it in class (keep a few pages ahead) [put question marks in the margin where there are points that are confusing].
Come to class, pay attention, and take notes.
Look at any relevant
notes
on the course website.
After class review what went on in class to be sure you understand it.
Re-read the selections talked about to see if they make more sense.
Before the next class, review the notes/reading again so that when the teacher starts talking, you're already up to speed.
If you have questions about the reading or material, ask them of the teacher (
office hours
,
e-mail
).
Notice all this can be done even before a study guide is available.
