How to Do Well in Philosophy
Class
A few suggestions about how to do well in a philosophy class:
- Read the material before we talk about it in
class (keep a few pages
ahead) [put question marks in the margin where there are points that are
confusing]
- Come to class, pay attention, and take notes
- Look at the notes on the web
- After class review what went on in class to be sure you understand it
- Re-read the selections talked about to see if they make more sense
- Before the next class, review the notes/reading again so that when the
teacher starts talking, you're already up to speed
- If you have questions about the reading or material, ask them of the
teacher (office hours,
e-mail) or T.A.
Notice all this can be done even before a study guide is available.
