Comprehensive Project
The purpose of the Comprehensive Project is
to allow you to apply and extend the computer skills learned in
AGME 2903. The project consists of four major components:
Spreadsheet Template
(100 pts.)
This is a "problem-solving" template you
conceptualize, develop and test. The template should be useful
to others as well as yourself. Therefore, your project should
have a clearly defined purpose and other aids so it is user
friendly. The completed template should be designed so that
once the user enters the required input data, the spreadsheet
calculates a "solution" for the user.
Minimum requirements:
-
Two or more functions
-
Complex or "nested" formulas
-
"Reset" macro and button
-
One additional macro and button
-
Special formatting (instructions,
borders/shading, graphics, etc.)
-
"Protected cells"-- (only the input cells
can be altered by the user)
-
Extra points will be earned based on the
uniqueness of the problem, the elegance of the solution, the
number of intermediate and advanced spreadsheet skills used,
and the overall functionality of the spreadsheet.

Problem Description
(25 pts.)
This is an explanation of the components of
your project. You should identify, describe and justify the
problem your spreadsheet template will solve, specify the
necessary inputs, describe the outputs, identify and explain the
functional relationships required to achieve an accurate
solution, describe any extra features or formatting you included
and a summary.
Minimum formatting requirements:
-
Cover page
-
Title and major and minor headings
-
Body in double-column format
-
Page numbering -- (begin with "1" on
first page after cover page)
-
Running header on each numbered page
-
Bullets

Computer-Based
Presentation (25 pts.)
In this portion of the project, you will
develop a quality presentation describing and demonstrating your
Comprehensive Project. It should include an introduction,
descriptions of the problem, inputs, outputs and functional
relationships, an image of your spreadsheet with labels
identifying various components and a summary of your project.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Title slide
-
Descriptions of the problem, inputs,
outputs and functional relationships
-
Overview of your spreadsheet layout
including a graphic of your spreadsheet
-
A hyperlink to your spreadsheet
-
Summary slide
