Mission

At the Center for Agricultural Data Analytics (CADA), our mission is to drive the advancement of research, collaboration, and training in cutting-edge data science throughout the Division of Agriculture and the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.

Our expert faculty work alongside Division and University scientists, as well as external researchers, to lead collaborative research projects and advance novel statistical and data science research to address current problems in the field.

At CADA, we believe that education is key to unlocking the potential of statistical and data science in agricultural research. We provide training and continuing education opportunities to researchers at all career stages, emphasizing the understanding and application of basic statistical principles through real-life examples.

We strive to make a meaningful impact by harnessing the power of “Big Data” to provide new insights into algorithms and approaches that address the most pressing questions in agricultural and biological research.

Consulting

The Center’s faculty and staff provide statistical and data analytical consulting services to satisfy the routine analytical needs of researchers throughout the Division of Agriculture. These services cover not only statistical design and analysis but can include statistical programming, data visualization and information management assistance.

Researchers are strongly encouraged to make use of our consulting services at the design stage of their project to ensure the efficient use of resources and the availability of appropriate statistical analyses which address the objectives of the project. Please contact a faculty or staff member directly to set up an appointment. The Center does not maintain a “help desk” for drop-in visits.

Courses

The Center for Agricultural Data Analytics offers applied statistics courses for graduate students oriented toward students in the agricultural, food and life sciences. These courses provide students with an understanding of statistics and its role in scientific research. All of the courses are taught with an emphasis on concepts and applications rather than on highly mathematical statistical theory. Students gain an appreciation for the power of correctly applied statistical methodology as well as its limitations in poorly designed or inappropriate situations. Successful students will obtain the knowledge needed to design and analyze their own research studies and, more importantly, to recognize when the advice and assistance of a professional statistician is required. Students completing all four AGST graduate courses can apply to receive the graduate STAN Analytics certificate awarded by the Graduate School.

  • AGST 500V – Special Problems
