Archeology
Our archeology faculty is particularly strong in the U.S Southeast, Great Plains, and the Middle East. Their research interests range from ethnohistory to lithic analysis, Quaternary environments, landscape archeology, ground-based geophysical and satellite remote sensing, applications of geographical information systems technology, quantitative techniques, mortuary studies and cultural ecology. A major emphasis, in collaboration with the Arkansas Archeological Survey, is public archeology. Many former students have successful careers in cultural resource management. Our archeological laboratories are well equipped with a range of geophysical survey instruments, microscopes, photographic gear and field equipment. Our faculty developed and hosts a number of on-line internet resources in the field.
