Objective: After the initial study of the Native Americans in Arkansas, the students will, by means of this game, become more familiar with the Native Americans of Arkansas and their culture.

Set: The students will have studied page 17 - 29 in their textbook: "The Mississippian Tradition" and will have seen the first part        of the video ( up to the expedition of DeSoto), as well as have done several worksheets and activity on this subject.

Materials: : "An Arkansas History for young people" by T. Harri Baker and Jane Browning.
                2. Video: "First encounters" Native American and Europeans in the Mississippi Valley.
                3. Blackboard or Overhead projector to keep score.
                4. 3 different colored cards with the names of the three major Indian tribes in Arkansas (  Osage, Quapaw, Caddo)                     on them.
                5. A classroom set of the 25 questions. ( included)

Key Terms: No new terms. (Extension of understanding of the terms Quapaw, Caddo and Osage.)


Key Facts: 1. Tell students they will be playing a game to review and prepare for                             the test over this  chapter.
                 2. Each student will be given three different colored cards with the terms "CADDO", "QUAPAW", and " OSAGE",                      on them, written in marker.  These cards can be made at the beginning of the class or be made by the teacher in                      advance.
                 3. The students are to place these cards right side up, on their desks.
                 4. Depending on the size of the class; divide in two or more teams The team that scores the most point will be the                      winner.
                 5. Each teams takes a turn and answers a question. If  correct point for that team. If incorrect or no answer the                       opposing team will get a chance to answer and win a point.
                 6. Answer the 25 question in order and/or at random.
                 7. The members of the winning team will be addressed, by the losers as "CHIEF"  for a pre-arranged time period.                      The rest of the day, two days or until the next game is played.
