The student will discuss the concept of good citizenship within the political organization.

Materials: Arkansas history textbook

Key Facts: *1918 - Nineteenth amendment gave women the right to vote. Arkansas gave state vote 1917 when?
*Winslow, Arkansas in Washington County elected an all female town government.
*They were elected for 2 consecutive terms.

Activities: Teacher will lecture before about this activity women's plight for suffrage.  The students will divide into groups to create a political campaign for a female in the class based upon the issues of the early 1900's.  Class then will vote for a female due to her campaign ideas.

Closure: Summarize women's fight for the right to vote,  Class election for "mayor" of the class.

Assessment: Formal assessment on women's suffrage will be on the chapter exam.
