Objective: Students will understand and know the shape of Arkansas and where it is located on an United States map.

Set: Teacher will show students a map of the United States and ask students to locate Arkansas.

Materials:

1.  A map or picture of Arkansas.

2.  Connect the Dots worksheet of Arkansas

3.  A picture of the United State

4.  A United State Handout

5.  A Globe

6.  Red crayon

7.  A uncolored map of the United States with states' names on it so students and their parents can mark location of grandparents or other close family members.

8.  Black marker

Activities:

1.  Students will connect the dots worksheet to trace the outline of Arkansas.

2.  Students will find Arkansas and color it red on the United States handout.

Closure:

1.  Teacher will pass out maps and have students to take maps of the United States home for homework and have parent help he/she locate close family members on map with a black marker.
