Most of the Cosmochemistry Group’s research concerns the meteorites known as chondrites.  Unlike the meteorites from the Moon or Mars, these are almost certainly asteroid fragments and they have escaped the processing that comes from being part of a major planet.  Their composition, textures, and ages show them to be the oldest materials in the solar system.  They are witnesses to the nebula from which the Earth and planets formed.
