Derek Sears, head of the group, trained as a chemist,
turned to astronomy and geology in graduate school, is now university
professor, W. M. Keck Professor of Space and Planetary Sciences, and Director
of the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences at the University of
Arkansas.
