A cathodoluminescence image of part of a chondritic meteorite, among the most primitive known rocks in the Solar System. A new taxonomic scheme for chondrules, the main component of these meteorites, allows differentiation between pristine, genuinely primitive chondrules, and those affected by metamorphism.
