Level II; Intermediate Camp ~ June 12 - 14

MONDAY

Safety and Handling, Riding Assessment, Terminology: Parts of the horse and breeds, Horsemanship, Nutrition and Health.
TUESDAY  Riding, Round Pen Demonstration and Bell Game, Jeopardy, Parasites, Conformation and Selection of horses.

WEDNESDAY

Riding, Western and English Saddling, Vaccination sites and Bandaging, Normal Behavior and Vices, and Unsoundnesses.
Level I; Novice Camp ~ June 15-16
THURSDAY Safety and Handling, Riding Assessment, Terminology: Parts of the horse and Breeds, Horsemanship, Nutrition and Health.
FRIDAY Riding, Temperature, Vaccinations, De-worming, Normal Behavior and Vices, Conformation and Selection. 

 


DETAILS
The camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will finish on 5:00 p.m. each day.  Campers must be dropped off daily at the P. Whitaker Arena at 8:00 a. m. by a parent or designated adult (if camper is to be picked up by other than parent, permission and picture ID required prior to the start of camp) and picked up between 5 and 5:30 p.m.  A limit of 60 campers will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. Campers will be grouped into 'classes' of approximately 15, and will participate in each activity in these small groups.  There will be daily handling and riding of horses as well as other 'class room' activities.  Lunch and 2 break periods will be incorporated into each day of camp.  Campers will be assigned to horses based on experience level. Time for recreational activities and tours of campus will be arranged.
