Artwork by Don Dane
Artist
Don Dane contributed several prints to this year's Razorback Roundup
in addition to granting us permission to use his original artwork
'Rough Stock' as the theme of this year's catalog. 'Rough Stock'
was used as our catalog cover, website home page, post card
invitations, a flyer, a poster, and numerous ads in magazines and
newspapers. Two of Don's prints will be auctioned off at the
sale, one will be included in a promotional give-a-way, and one will
remain on display at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center.
Don is a self-taught, traditional artist
who likes the realistic style of painting and drawing. He has
become well known for his portrayal of the American west and the
cowboy way of life.
"I believe it takes a special kind of individual to want to live a
cowboy life and I have a growing desire to be a part of portraying
images that reflect this through my drawings, paintings and
sculpture."
Born
in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in the beautiful Ozark hills, Don
is, by all accounts, a mid-westerner. His father was a rural Baptist
minister and his mother nurtured high moral standards within the
family home. Don has carried these same moral standards into his daily
life and they are reflected in his art.
Don’s subject matter varies, but he prefers painting subjects that
reflect the tradition of the American west, the American cowboy and
the rural way of life. Don works from his home/studio located in
Olathe, Kansas. To see more of Don's artwork please visit his
