The poem originally appeared in the June 2008 issue of &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;Poetry&lt;/span&gt; and &lt;a href="http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=181619"&gt;can be read here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Pushcart Prize anthologies have been published annually since the mid-1970s to honor the best poetry and short fiction of the preceding year.
