Statue of Liberty

In Poitiers' centre ville, there is a square called "Place de la liberté". Today there

stands a small version of the Statue of Liberty. However, it is said that this place was

once used for capital punishments with the guillotine. It is interesting then that a

symbol of liberty has been placed over a symbol of death.
