FREDRICK, DAVID
Publications
(B.A., University of Kansas, 1982; M.A. University of Kansas, 1984; Ph.D. University of Southern California, 1992), joined the University of Arkansas in 1991, and is currently an Associate Professor of Classics. He has given many national papers, and has written articles on violence in Roman elegy, theories of the gaze in rock performance, and Roman wall painting. He is currently doing research for a book on the representation and meaning of the body in Roman wall painting. Also, he is editing a book called *The Roman Gaze: Vision, Power, and the Body in Roman Society*, which he soon hopes to have accepted for publication. His research interests are Roman social history, Roman poetry, and Hellenistic poetry.
LEVINE, DANIEL

(B.A., University of Minnesota, 1975; Ph.D. University of Cincinnati, 1980), joined the University of Arkansas faculty in 1980, and is currently Professor of Classical Studies, and Chairman of Studies of the Classical Studies Program. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on Greek epic, lyric, dramatic, and historical texts. He is the recipient of a national award for "Excellence in the Teaching of the Classics" (American Philological Association, 1992), the University of Arkansas' "Burlington Northern Outstanding Faculty-Scholar Teaching Award" (1986), and the Fulbright College "Master Teacher" award. He has directed several study programs in Greece, including Summer Sessions for the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. PAPPAS, ALEX
